The Southern Style Offroad Full-Length Roof Rack includes four side cutouts (two per side) for scene lighting. Baja Designs S2 Sport and Rigid D-Series lights would fit in the cutouts, but I did not want to spend $400+ on a scene lighting system. After some research and reviewing lighting cutsheets to compare dimensions, I determined that Sylvania Flush Mount pods would work just fine at only $30 a pop (~$120 total). Further, I purchased dual-leg wiring harnesses so that each side could be controlled independently of each other from the Switch Pros 9100.
Each flush mount light comes with a foam gasket and stainless steel mounting hardware. Mounting to the rack is straightforward - stick the light through the cutout, secure using supplied hardware, and connect electrical connections. I recommend applying blue Loctite on any fasteners to prevent unwanted loosening over time.
One note is the flush-mount pods will shoot out light straight from the rack, rather than angled downward towards the ground. Rigid SR-M Series Flush-Mount Gasket Up/Down allows adjusting the lights 15 degrees downward, and fits almost perfectly behind the Sylvania lights. The cheapest place I found to purchase these were from Battle Born Offroad, a drop-shipper/offroad shop out of Las Vegas… but I can’t find the link anymore. They were about $30 a pair.
The up/down mounts are made of a dense rubber and do not come with hardware. Hardware provided with the Sylvania flush mount lights were adequate for this application.
Overall, I am very happy with this setup at its price point. The Sylvania flush mounts provide a fairly diffused light, which works really well at 25% dimming from the Switch Pros 9100 controller. They are great when setting up camp at night whilst not blinding others nearby.
